An unexpected event that occurs somewhere in the upstream supply chain and that leads to a situation that has the potential for severe undesirable consequences to your operations”.

 

Example: Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (event) disrupted supplies of raw materials which leads to threatening a production halt (situation).
